LA EN ROSE is a pop up group exhibition curated by Julio Panisello featuring artwork by the following artists:
Liv Estrup, Paul Julien Freed, Julie Grist, Sarah Jennings, Ruthie Leah, Darlene Levin, John G. Lundberg, Chloé Nelson, Charlotte Tarantola, Mary Worthington
The multi-artist installation, LA en Rose, curated by Julio Panisello, presents a series of Los Angeles streetscapes realized using a rose-based color palette.
The inspiration for this series is two-fold. Helen Lundeberg, renowned twentieth century artist, used variations of the color pink in some of her paintings to convey the atmospheric quality of light in the Southern California landscape. Her color palette reminded Mr. Panisello of the various shades of the Stargazer Lily, first bred in California in 1974 by Leslie Woodriff.
Julio has selected ten artists to explore this color analogy and how it serves as a physical and sentimental bond between the botanical and architectural elements of old and new Los Angeles.
